The Hawaii Police Department is continuing their investigation into the tragic traffic collision on Mauna Kea Access Road that took place on January 1, 2022, killing a nine-year-old girl and injuring seven people.
The girl has been identified as Kelsirose Adelka of Kailua-Kona. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday, January 5, 2022.
Adelka was riding inside a 2018 Toyota Tacoma traveling west on the steep summit road when the vehicle appears to have lost control after the brakes did not respond, according to police.
