Kahului man indicted for driving through Maui Marathon crowd

Pajimola-Aiu continued to drive through the crowd and struck a 53-year-old Kahului man. The victim was dragged about 30 feet, and sustained minor injuries. The victim was treated and released at the scene.
A 22-year-old Kahului man was arrested on a Grand Jury indictment for driving through a crowd at the beginning of the Maui Marathon. Rustyn Wesley Pajimola-Aiu is being charged with the following: Assault in the Second Degree, Reckless Endangering I, and Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of an Intoxicant. Maui police state that on Sept. 21 at about 5:05 a.m., Pajimola-Aiu was driving his 2014 Acura 4-door sedan within the parking lot of Queen Kaahumanu Center. He attempted to exit the parking lot via the Onehee Avenue and Wakea Avenue exit where a large crowd of participants were waiting for the start of the Maui Marathon. Pajimola-Aiu continued to drive through the crowd and hit a 53-year-old Kahului man. The victim was dragged about 30 feet, and sustained minor injuries. The victim was treated and released at the scene. Pajimola-Aiu was arrested at the time for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of an Intoxicant and an outstanding bench warrant. At the time, his bail was set at $1,200. For the current charges, Pajimola-Aiu bail is set at $50,000.00.
