Marshall Carvalho, 54, killed in moped collision on Kahului Beach Road in Kahului, Hawaii

A 54-year-old man died in a moped crash Monday in Kahului, according to the Maui Police Department. The operator of the scooter, Wailuku resident Marshall Carvalho, was taken to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition where he later died. The 25-year-old driver of the Cadillac CTS was not injured, officials said. Police said the incident happened at around 10:25 p.m. when the moped rider was going south on Kahului Beach Road and crashed into a Cadillac CTS that was traveling north and making a left turn onto Kaihee Place from a designated left-turn lane.
