Man struck by car on Dirksen dies of injuries
A man who was hit by a vehicle on Dirksen Parkway just south of Sangamon Avenue Sunday afternoon has died.
Larue Scheib, 32, of Springfield was pronounced dead at 1:07 a.m. Monday at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, where he'd been taken by ambulance, according to the Sangamon County Coroner's Office.
At 12:18 p.m. Sunday, the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office said, Scheib stopped his truck where there is no shoulder on Dirksen, turned on the hazard lights and got out of his vehicle to corral some items that fell out of the bed.
