Illinois State Police say the accident happened around 6pm when four people in a car were heading Eastbound on I-90 in McHenry County when the driver lost control. Police say their car hit the center median and then crashed into a semi, closing the interstate for hours.
UPDATE: Rockford University students killed, injured in deadly car crash on I-90
One of the occupants in the car, a 19-year-old woman from Markham, Illinois, was taken to a Rockford hospital where she died just before 8 p.m. Rockford University identified the woman as Desiree Wease, a student at the university. The university also identified former RU student Demonte Wigfall, 18, as the other person killed in the crash.
McHenry County Coroner autopsy reports say Wigfall died on scene from multiple blunt force trauma injuries from the crash.
