Driver charged after crash that killed 33-year-old Aurora man

A Streator woman has been charged with drunken driving Sunday after a vehicle crash in suburban Aurora that killed her male passenger, police said.Stephanie Figueroa, 27, was driving a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta at about 2 a.m. when she apparently lost control and went off the roadway and hit a residence in the 500 block of North Farnsworth Avenue in Aurora, police said.Figueroa's passenger, a 33-year man, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly afterward.An autopsy is pending at the Kane County Coroner's office. His identification was not immediately released Sunday.Figueroa was treated for her injuries at a hospital and released.Police said Figueroa may face additional charges pending the conclusion of an investigation.

More charges for driver in Aurora fatal DUI crash

Upon receiving the results of forensic evidence and other findings of the investigation, the upgraded charges were authorized by the Kane County state's attorney. Figueroa was taken into custody without incident around 12:20 p.m. Feb. 12 at her Streator home by members of the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force.
