Cesar Diaz, 38, killed after 2 vehicles speed down Irving Park Road hitting parked cars and eventually each other causing one to hit a tree in in Chicago, Illinois

One man has died and at least one other person fled the scene after a two-car crash in the Northwest Side Portage Park early Saturday morning. A Honda Civic and a dark-colored van were speeding eastbound in the 5400 block of Irving Park Road at about 1:40 a.m. when the van struck the Honda, causing the Honda to crash into a tree, police said. The occupants of the van survived the crash and fled the scene, police said. The driver of the Honda, who was the only person inside the car, was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. The vehicles involved in the crash also struck some parked cars, according to police.
