The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatalities.
A driver was arrested Saturday night after his car struck two men crossing the street, killing them both, in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side. The men, whose ages are not yet known, were crossing the street at a crosswalk at about 10:10 p.m. in the 4300 block of West North Avenue when they were both struck by the 2002 Buick. One man was dead at the scene, while the other was taken to Norwegian American Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The 24-year-old man driving the Buick sped away, but then hit three parked vehicles near North and Kedvale. He was subsequently taken into custody and charges were pending.
