Maquon woman dies in truck crash in Knox County

A 20-year-old woman died when the truck she was driving collided with another truck on Knox Highway 20 west of Maquon, Illinois. The westbound truck was pulling a dual-tank trailer carrying anhydrous ammonia, and Strang’s truck struck one of the anhydrous ammonia tanks, according to a statement from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. Shelby Strang was traveling in a pickup truck eastbound when her truck and a westbound truck side-swiped, near the crest of a hill, about four miles west of Maquon around 7:30 a.m. The anhydrous ammonia had to be transferred to other tanks, but none of it escaped as a result of the crash, the statement said.   The other driver, a 26-year-old man from Elmwood, was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
