Detective Scott Williams with the Moline Police Department said that on Friday, October 10, 2014 around 9:15 p.m. a 53-year-old woman was crossing Avenue of the Cities at the 53rd Street intersection when she was hit by a Chrysler van.

Man sentenced after deadly pedestrian crash in Moline
Police say Pizano was drunk when he hit Gordon as she was crossing Avenue of the Cities. Pizano is sentenced to 8 years.
Brenda Gordon was crossing Avenue of the Cities at the 53rd Street intersection when she was struck by a Chrysler van driven by 46-year-old Octavio Pizano. She was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. Pizano was arrested for driving under the influence. Brenda Gordon is well known for being the mother of Trudy Appleby, an 11-year-old girl that went missing in 1996.
