At 5:54 p.m., officers responded to a crash with injuries in rural Center Township on CR 600 West just north of Division Road, according to a statement from Porter County sheriff’s office. They arrived minutes later and found a 2014 Jeep Wrangler had crashed into a tree.

The victim has been identified as Rafael Bonilla, who police said was a passenger in a 2014 Jeep Wrangler being driven by Zachery Sauer, also 16 and a resident of Center Township.
