New Haven Police provided these details about the accident reported at 5:29 p.m.: When emergency workers arrived, they found the vehicle in a cornfield near a utility pole that had been snapped off. Witnesses were giving CPR to the man, who still was in the car. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Several witnesses said that the vehicle had been traveling south on Adams Center when it crossed the center line, hit the utility pole, and traveled into a cornfield, leading police to believe that the driver may have experienced a medical problem before the accident.
