Weather-related pile-up leads to injuries, Interstate closure

As many as 150 cars were involved in a pile-up on Interstate 74 Sunday afternoon with several people injured and up to 30 vehicles damaged following a series of weather-related crashes, law enforcement officials said. Decatur County Chief Deputy Sheriff Eric Blodgett said the pile-up and ensuing crashes began at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sunday as an estimated two inches of snow began to blanket Decatur County and surrounding areas. Blodgett said a vehicle lost control at the westbound 132 mile marker on I-74 and slid into the median, leading to a "chain reaction" of subsequent accidents.

Multiple crashes cause traffic delays

All westbound lanes of Interstate 74 are closed near mile marker 132, at the U.S. 421 exit, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.
