When he pulled over, he “heard a loud noise and thought he had hit a deer,” the report said. He pulled to the middle of the road, turned on his flashers and flagged down a passerby. He saw a woman—Cody Shelton—and a bicycle behind his truck and called 911. A man—Jake Shelton—got up from the weeds and walked home.

He told police a car with bright lights was approaching him from the opposite direction and it was difficult for him to see. The car dimmed its lights briefly, but then brightened them, again. Sutt said he slowed down and pulled to the side of the road because he couldn't see well.

Cody Shelton and her brother, Jake Shelton, were riding on a bicycle on County Road 800 East around 10 p.m. when they were struck by a truck. Cody was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital by medical helicopter in critical condition, and Jake was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital. The driver of the truck has been identified as Isaiah Sutt, 22. No more information is available at this time.
