A man was arrested early Saturday morning after police say he crashed his vehicle into a squad car and later blew a .12 percent on a breath test. Around 2:40 a.m., an officer was sitting in his parked police vehicle in the 300 block of South Meridian Street when he noticed a vehicle exiting the wrong way from a parking lot, a police report said. The officer then felt an impact on his car, got out, and saw that the vehicle had hit the left rear bumper of the squad car, causing light damage and scuffing. According to the report, the officer approached the vehicle and the driver, identified as 43-year-old Edgar D. Booker, who had a strong smell of alcohol coming from his breath. Another officer was called to the scene to conduct a DUI investigation. The officer says he also noticed a smell of alcohol coming from Booker while speaking with him and noticed his eyes were red, glassy and bloodshot. Booker was transported to roll call where a certified breath test was taken. Booker blew a .12 percent. He was placed under arrest for OVWI and taken to the Arrestee Processing Center.
