Alcohol led to crash that left woman trapped.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police say they believe alcohol consumption led to a crash early Wednesday morning on the city’s southeast side.

Around 3:45 a.m. police and rescue crews were called to the 1500 block of Laurel Street near Fountain Square. When they arrived they found a car up on its side and the woman driver trapped inside.

Investigators at the scene say they believe the woman was driving drunk, lost control of her vehicle and ended up in the yard of a home.

The woman was trapped for about 15 minutes while crews worked to free her. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment of a possible broken leg.

Police say she will face charges in connection with the crash.
