Interstate 70 reopens after Good Samaritan killed aiding crash near Indianapolis International Airport

A semi truck driver who stopped to help two other motorists involved in a crash was struck and killed by another semi this morning on Interstate 70 westbound near the Indianapolis International Airport.

A good Samaritan trying to help victims of a crash was hit and killed by a passing semi early Wednesday, forcing the closure of all westbound lanes of the interstate near the airport.

A semi truck driver who stopped to help two other motorists involved in a crash was struck and killed by another semi this morning on Interstate 70 westbound near the Indianapolis International Airport.

Two vehicles collided after 3 a.m. today, just east of the area of the airport, an Indiana State Police post commander said. A truck driver pulled over behind the crash and got out of his truck. He was walking toward the injured motorists when he was struck and killed, police said.

After several hours of closure, westbound I-70 was reopened in the area by 7:45 a.m..

Police were not immediately releasing names of the victim or others involved in the crash.
