Two Boone County teens were killed early Sunday in a single-vehicle crash in Boone County.

Jacob Shockley of Advance and Richard Penny Jr. of Lebanon, both 18, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in the 1600 block of County Road 800 North, about 1 mile southwest of Mechanicsburg.

According to a report from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Shockley was driving a blue, 1993 Honda Civic westbound when it ran off the south side of the road for unknown reasons.

Police said the vehicle then hit a tree head-on. Neighbors in the area told police they heard a noise around 1 a.m. but did not see the car or the crash.
