Alcohol believed to be factor in crash that killed 21-year-old Zionsville man

When emergency crews arrived to the scene, they found Dupler and another man, 21-year-old Jack Kaplan, outside of the 2003 Ford Explorer. Kaplan sustained minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. Authorities say he was later admitted to IU North Hospital for treatment.

“Too often we are forced to respond to these types of crashes that could have been avoided,” Major Brian Stevenson said. “Today a young man’s life was taken because of drinking and driving. Please, if you see someone get into the driver’s seat when they have been drinking, do the right thing and take the keys. It could be a life or death decision.”
