Investigators said a pickup truck being driven by Michael Wright, 31, changed lanes and hit a big rig before striking the center median guardrail.
Officials said Wright and a passenger, Susannah Thompson, 44, were ejected from the truck.

Michael Eric Wright, 31, is in custody at the Polk County Jail on charges of vehicular homicide, homicide by vehicle by reckless driving, driving while barred as a habitual offender and a third offense of operating while under the influence.

he sentence of 15 years was handed down Friday in a Des Moines courtroom to Michael Wright, of Ankeny. He'd pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide-reckless driving and to driving while intoxicated-third or subsequent offense.
