Suspect apprehended after fleeing scene of OP 4-vehicle fatal crash

The Ford Focus was reported stolen out of Kansas City, Mo., but that wasn't known until after the collision.  The driver of one of the vehicles struck was transported to an area hospital and later died. Another driver was transported with serious injuries.

Part-time Louisburg officer who lived in Overland Park killed in crash

OVERLAND PARK — A part-time police officer has been killed in a traffic crash in suburban Kansas City. Overland Park police say 58-year-old David M. Stubbs, of Overland Park, was killed Friday when a man driving a stolen car ran a red light and collided with Stubbs’ vehicle at an intersection. But Johnson County Court records show the 24-year-old Olathe man arrested Friday had warrants for his arrest pending in two other auto theft cases. The Kansas City Star reports that Stubbs was a part-time police officer in Louisburg, Kan. Police say the driver of the stolen car fled from the scene on foot, but was arrested nearby a few minutes later.

Man who served others with strength and compassion killed in Overland Park crash

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- A 58-year-old man died suddenly Friday morning when the driver of a stolen vehicle crashed the stolen car into the man's car at 123rd and Metcalf in Overland Park. Overland Park Police say the man driving the stolen car is in custody for auto theft warrants. Overland Park Police say the man in the stolen car ran a red light and hit Stubbs as he was making his way into the intersection, heading north. Stubbs' son Jordan, 23, was also injured in the crash. David Mark Stubbs, who went by the name Mark, joined the Louisburg, Kan., Police Department in January.

24-year-old man charged with fatal hit-and-run involving Louisburg officer

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Late last week prosecutors charged a  man with a list of crimes in connection to the fatal hit-and-run crash that involved a part-time Louisburg, Kan., officer. Overland Park police say Patton was driving a stolen vehicle at the time of the crash. Prosecutors say Patton was intoxicated at the time of the accident. Dana Patton,24, was charged with second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, six counts of aggravated battery, obstruction of legal processes, aggravated burglary and failure to stop. Patton is accused of running a red light on Oct. 16, 2015 near 123rd and Metcalf and hitting officer David Stubbs, 58.
