Topeka High student struck by car while walking to school

A Topeka High School student was taken to a local hospital for observation after being struck by a car while walking to school Friday morning. Topeka Police Officer Jay Gonzalez said the female student didn'€™t appear to be seriously injured, but was taken as a precaution after the collision near S.W. 8th and Western. The driver, an adult female who was visibly upset at the scene, didn'€™t yield to the pedestrian, he said. Traffic was flowing normally as of 7:45 a.m. Friday.
