Antle says the preliminary investigation suggests one vehicle crossed the center line and stuck the second vehicle head on. A pickup truck and a car were involved. Information about those involved is not being released at this time pending notification to next of kin.

Both drivers were ejected from their vehicles, he said. The driver of the Buick, 47-year-old Charles Blackburn of Wichita, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup, Cecelia Smith of Douglass, was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis with injuries not considered critical.
