Man killed when Amtrak train hits car in SW Kansas

No injuries were reported among any of the train’s passengers.

Icy Conditions Blamed For Deadly Kansas Train-Car Crash

The accident happened three miles east of Cimarron, Kansas.
One person died early Monday morning when his vehicle collided with an Amtrak train at 12:50 a.m. Monday on US-50  just east of Cimarron in Gray County. The 1994 Lexus passenger car was traveling west when the driver lost control on the icy roadway. The Lexus came to a rest on the railroad tracks, where it was hit by an Amtrak train. The driver of the Lexus, Lanh T. Tranh, 45, of Garden City, was pronounced deceased at the crash site. The train’s engineer, Randy M. Decker, of La Junta, Colorado, was not injured.
