Lonnie Barnhart, 56, killed, and Edward Deges, 55, injured in head-on collision on US-283 near WaKeeney, Kansas

One person was killed Tuesday morning in a two-car, head-on crash in western Kansas, authorities said. Tuesday at northbound US-283 highway about six miles south of WaKeeney. The Kansas Highway Patrol said the crash occurred when a 1992 Cadillac that was northbound on US-283 highway when it went left of center and struck a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck head-on. The driver of the Silverado, identified as Edward Deges, 55, of WaKeeney , was injured in the crash and was transported to Hays Medical Center in Hays. The driver of the Cadillac, Lonnie Barnhart, 56, of Dewey, Okla., was pronounced dead at the scene.
