A spokeswoman for the Wichita Public Schools District confirmed that one of the deceased was a student at North High School.
On Wenesday afternoon in Wichita, a Chevrolet Monte Carlo was headed west on Pawnee at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and struck a utility pole on the north side of the road near Woodlawn. The front seat passenger, Derrick Burnett, 17, and left rear passenger Dontrez J. Williams, 15, were pronounced dead at the scene.
