UPS driver killed in accident on I-64 in Floyd County

The crash happened at the Georgetown Exit near mile marker 118. Floyd County Sheriff Frank Loop told WAVE that two drivers for UPS were traveling close together and talking to each other on their two-way radios. One of them was waiting for a response from the other when he saw the second driver lose control of his vehicle and crash.

One person killed in crash on I-64W in Floyd Co. near Georgetown

According Floyd County Sheriff Frank Loop, it happened around 5 a.m. That's when the driver of a UPS tractor-trailer left the road, struck a light pole and burst into flames. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has immediately released.

The semi McCoy was driving slammed in a light tower and burst into flames on westbound I-64 at the Georgetown exit about 5 a.m. Thursday.
