The victim, whose name had not been released Wednesday afternoon, was badly burned, but the cause of death remained undetermined pending an autopsy, Purdy said.

One person died in a fiery collision on Wednesday morning on U.S. 27 just south of Stanford, at 1:50 a.m. The crash occurred when a red Pontiac Grand Am was heading southbound without any lights on when another Pontiac crashed into the back of the vehicle.
