LMPD releases description of vehicle allegedly involved in fatal hit-and-run

Louisville Metro Police have released new information about a vehicle they say was involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident last week.

Fegenbush Lane was shut down just west of Bardstown Road during the investigation. Smiley estimated it would remain closed for a few hours.

"We believe she may be from around this area but specifically where she resides is something we are still trying to determine at this time. Again the vehicle that struck her whether it was a car or a truck would have extensive front-end damage. We will be talking further with the witness who flagged us down to see if they have any additional details they could add to this as well," LMPD spokesperson, Alicia Smiley, said.

Coroner releases identity of woman hit, killed on Fegenbush Lane

The coroner identified the woman as 74-year-old Bertha Vest.
An elderly woman was walking at the corner of Bardstown Road and Fegenbush Lane when she was struck by a vehicle, sustaining fatal injuries. Her identity has not been released and police are working to identify the driver of the vehicle. Police describe the vehicle as "a 1999 – 2007 Ford Escape, possibly light blue in color" with damage to the left bumper, headlight, and turn signal.
