The accident occurred as John McDonald of Woodville, Mississippi was driving a 1979 Peterbilt tractor trailer north in the right lane of U.S. 61 in north of Louisiana 10 when Felix Lipoma of Gonzales pulled his 2001 GMC pickup out of a private driveway and struck the rear wheels of the trailer. The impact caused Lipoma's pickup to roll several times before coming to the rest on the right shoulder of the highway. Lipoma was transported to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries. McDonald was not injured. Both men were wearing seat belts.
