A Franklinton woman riding an ATV died Wednesday after she disregarded a traffic signal and was struck by a car, State Police said. The crash occurred at the intersection of Louisiana highways 450 and 16, State Police said. Cynamon A. Warden, 21, died of injuries at Interim LSU Hospital in New Orleans. State Police said the collision happened around 12:55 p.m. Wednesday after Warden, who was driving the Kawasaki four-wheeler on Louisiana 450, disregarded a flashing stop sign and red signal light as she crossed Louisiana 16. Another driver, Margaret Harris, 73, also of Franklinton, was traveling on La. 450 in a Nissan Maxima and struck Warden. The four-wheeler rolled multiple times, throwing Warden and causing her "life threatening injuries," State Police said. Authorities said Warden was not wearing a helmet. Warden was initially taken to St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, and then air-lifted to the Interim LSU Hospital in New Orleans where she died, authorities said. State Police said they found no detectable alcohol in the system of the Maxima's driver, after she voluntarily submitted to chemical testing. Investigators took a blood sample from Warden for analysis, but the results are pending as the crash continues to be investigated.
