Authorities are looking for a man they say fled the scene of a fatal hit-and-run on Veterans Boulevard Thursday (Feb. 27) then stopped at a drugstore where he shoved an elderly woman to the ground and drove off in her car.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office says David Millsap, 24, of Broken Arrow, Okla., rear-ended a Lincoln Towncar with a PT Cruiser around 2:30 p.m. on Veterans Boulevard and Brockenbraugh Court. The wreck sent 75-year-old Ronal Ehrhardt of Metairie to the hospital, where he died around 7 p.m.

Ehrhardt's Towncar was pushed into a telephone pole authorities said. After the wreck, the PT Cruiser fled westbound on Veterans Boulevard from the scene to a drugstore at the intersection of Bonnabel Boulevard. That's where Millsap shoved a 79-year-old New Orleans woman to the ground, took her keys and fled in her silver 2008, 4-door Honda Accord with license plate WWJ089, the sheriff's office said.

Authorities said the woman suffered minor injuries.

Investigators said Millsap was in town visiting relatives when he took the PT Cruiser without permission.

The sheriff's office issued a warrant for Millsap's arrest. He is wanted on charges of negligent homicide, felony hit and run involving a death and carjacking.

I do not believe for one minute that the relatives of this man did not know that he had their vehicle. It is a likely escape story. He was living in their home, knew where the keys were or maybe allowed to use the vehicle and given the keys is a more likely story. Easy out but the family of Ronald Ehrhardt will have their day in court.
