Slidell police identified the victim who was killed by a train as a teen who was walking to school on Wednesday morning. The victim, 16-year-old James Pulsifer, was walking to school about 7 a.m. when he was struck by a southbound Norfolk Southern freight train. The conductor called police after the incident occurred between North Boulevard and Lafayette Street. The conductor told investigators that the victim was walking along the center of the railroad tracks with headphones over his ears. He died at the scene.
“The conductor tried to stop the train, and did everything possible to notify the teen, but it was apparent he did not hear the train’s horn,” police said.
