Two killed in Caribou crash

The Caribou connector is a 4-mile road connecting U.S. Route 1 and Route 89 to Route 161 north of downtown Caribou. CARIBOU, Maine '€” An elderly couple in their 80s were killed Wednesday afternoon when their vehicle was struck broadside by a city dump truck on U.S. Route 1, also known as Van Buren Road, as they exited the Caribou connector. Members of the Caribou Police Department were assisted by members of the Maine State Police commercial vehicle enforcement unit, Maine Warden Service reconstruction unit, and Caribou Fire and Ambulance. The crash is being investigated by Caribou Officer Douglas Bell. The accident occurred at the exit to Van Buren Road just north of the Caribou Veterans of Foreign War hall, according to a dispatcher.

Two dead after car collides with dump truck in Caribou

CARIBOU (AP) '€” Police say a couple is dead after the vehicle they were in collided with a dump truck in northeastern Maine. He was then hit by an International dump truck owned by the Caribou Public Works Department. Police say a 40-year-old Caribou man was driving the dump truck. Plummer died at the scene. 83-year-old Rachel Plummer who was riding with him was taken to Cary Medical Center, where she died of her injuries. Caribou Police say the crash happened around 1 p.m.
