Houlton woman dies in crash on I-95

ISLAND FALLS — A Houlton woman was killed Tuesday evening when the car she was a passenger in overturned on Interstate 95 in Island Falls, near mile marker 276, as the area was being hit with freezing rain. George Drake and another passenger, Clyde Geary, 33, of Houlton, were taken by Island Falls and Patten Ambulance Services to Houlton Regional Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. Maine State Police were called to the northbound lane of I-95 around 6:20 p.m. for a report of a single-vehicle crash. Anyone who sees Ruby is asked to call Maine State Police in Houlton at 532-5400. Janet Drake, 71, of Houlton was a passenger in a 1998 Toyota 4Runner driven by her husband, George, who lost control of the vehicle, which spun off the road and into the ditch.

Woman killed in northern Maine crash

A Houlton woman died in a rollover accident on Interstate 95 in northern Maine Tuesday night, Maine State Police said. George Drake, 69, of Houlton was driving too fast and lost control of his car in Island Falls, police said. The dog is a light brown in color with a white patch on the chest, approximately 60 pounds, with short brown hair and a white patch on the chest, gold eyes, pink collar, and is named Ruby. Drake's wife, Janet Drake, 71, also of Houlton, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car, police said. She died at the scene George Drake and another passenger were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Dog That Escaped Deadly Car Crash in Island Falls Found Alive

A dog that escaped from a deadly car crash on I-95 in Island Falls has been found. Ruby went missing when her owners were in an accident Tuesday night. 71-year old Janet Drake of Houlton was killed. Her husband, George Drake, who was driving, and a second passenger were treated for non-life threatening injuries at a hospital. State police say Ruby was discovered Thursday morning, alive and well. They’re also thankful for all of the tips that helped find her.
