Hagerstown police have charged a suspect in a hit-and-run fatality of a Maryland man.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Wilson Blvd. and Virginia Ave. at about 11:37 p.m. Sunday for a personal injury accident involving a motorcycle, a Hagerstown Police Department news release said.

“We are grateful to those in our community who are willing to stand up for crime victims by sharing such critical information that led to the arrest in this investigation. Without citizen input, this might never have been brought to justice and a family would have been left without answers," Hagerstown Police Chief Mark Holtzman said in the release.

Darren Reeder was riding his motorcycle when a white pickup truck collided with him at an intersection. Reeder was fatally injured, and the pickup did not stop to help. The man driving the pickup, later identified as 49-year-old Nathaniel Hart, is facing charges of manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol.
