A man was killed after he fell off an overpass and onto the inner loop of the Beltway in Lanham, Md., Tuesday morning.

A fatal accident closed all southbound lanes of I-495 South near Route 50 in Maryland early Tuesday, but two lanes were reopened by 5:30 a.m.

Maryland State Police said all lanes would be open shortly.
The accident occurred just after 3 a.m. when a vehicle traveling on a ramp from the inner loop of the Beltway onto eastbound Route 50 hit the guardrail. The man, Identified as Christopher Jarrell Wood, got out of the car after the accident, police said, and apparently jumped off the overpass into on coming traffic on I-495.
He was struck by another vehicle and died on the scene.
Policed said they had not yet identified the man.
