Police release name of pedestrian killed in Pittsfield Township Friday morning

It's still unknown if Ankney was walking or riding a bicycle at the time, according to police.

The 45-year-old pedestrian killed by a vehicle on State Street Friday morning has been identified as Michael Cory Ankney, of Defiance, Ohio. He died around 6:30 a.m. after he was hit by a 43-year-old driver from Clinton who was traveling north on State Street in a Ford Escape and tried to pass a vehicle making a left turn onto Lavender Lane.  Ankney was taken to U-M Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
