3 critically injured during 10-vehicle crash in Macomb County

Three people in three separate vehicles were hospitalized with critical injuries, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

Truck Driver ‘Fell Asleep’ Causing 10-Vehicle Pileup On M-53

Sheriff Anthony Wickersham says a preliminary investigation revealed the 55-year-old truck driver, working for Heavy Metal Trucking in Warren, struck the first of six passenger vehicles that were stopped for a red light in the right lane of northbound M-53, just south of 32 Mile.

Authorities say a truck driver who caused a 10-car pileup in Macomb County kidnapped his elderly neighbor and forced her to drive him to Detroit, where he took his own life following a standoff with police.
