ANN ARBOR (WWJ) Ann Arbor police are looking for the person responsible for a fatal hit-and-run accident this morning. A man on a bicycle was hit around one-45 a-m on eastbound Washtenaw Avenue near Brockman–that’s south of the University of Michigan campus. The victim was a man about 30 years old. Police are sifting thru debris at the scene, trying to determine the type of vehicle that hit the bicyclist.  Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Ann Arbor police at 734-994-2875.

Arrest made in deadly hit-and-run in Ann Arbor

A 25-year-old man from Ypsilanti Township has been arrested and a vehicle recovered in connection to the hit-and-run death of Michael Anthony Curley early Wednesday morning. Curley, of Pittsfield Township, was hit while riding his bicycle on Washtenaw Avenue near Brockman Boulevard around 2 a.m. Police were looking for an older model Audi with damage to the front-right quarter panel and bumper. Authorities said Curley was riding his bike home from work. The investigation is ongoing and will be reviewed by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office.

Hunter House Hamburgers collecting funds after employee killed in hit-and-run

Hunter House Hamburgers staff have started a fund drive to help the family of an employee who died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver. People can also donate in person at Hunter House Hamburgers at 35075 Woodward Avenue in Birmingham or the Ann Arbor location, 609 East Williams Street. Hunter House Hamburgers, where Curley worked in Ann Arbor, will be donating a percentage of sales for a week to the fund. The suspect, a 25-year-old Ypsilanti man, could turn himself in as early as Friday to face charges of failing to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death. Police say the suspect fled the scene after fatally striking Michael Curley, a 26-year-old Pittsfield Township resident, as he was riding his bike on Washtenaw Avenue near Brockman Boulevard around 2 a.m. on October 28.
