Car fleeing police crashes in suburban Detroit; 1 dead

State police say the car with male driver and a female passenger collided with the others Tuesday evening in Wayne County’s Brownstown Township after trying to escape police in Woodhaven. Police say they were wanted for retail fraud and parole violations.

Police tried to catch the suspects in the heavy traffic, unable to get the license plate from the truck. But only two minutes later it was too late. The truck slammed into three other cars near Dix-Toledo and Allen Road, killing Cutting.

He said there are circumstances that would have allowed for her to be charged despite the fact that she was not the driver, but the situation did not meet those standards.

Fraczek said a person who commits a crime that ultimately results in someone’s death caused by a third person can sometimes be charged in connection with the death. However, the initial crime has to be committed in commission of a felony.
