Westbound I-96 in Detroit has reopened after a hit-and-run crash involving eight vehicles this morning, according to Michigan State Police.

Three people were treated by emergency workers at the scene and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The crash happened about 5:48 a.m. at I-96 and Wyoming Street. A silver Chrysler Sebring with an unknown driver struck a four-door Pontiac sedan, forcing the Pontiac into a Ford Ranger, which overturned, police said. The Ranger was then struck by five other vehicles, including a Mini Cooper and a tractor-trailer. I-96 in that area was closed until about 8 a.m. Police are investigating whether alcohol was involved and whether drivers were wearing seat belts. They did not release any other details.
