71-year-old bicyclist from Pontiac struck, killed crossing street
The bicyclist crossed the street in an area not marked for crossing, the Sheriff's Department said in a statement.

The Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting deputies from the Pontiac Substation with the investigation of a vehicle/bicycle injury crash that occurred on Auburn Road near South Jessie Street on Dec. 8 at approximately 9:53pm.

The bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet and was not at a crosswalk, was taken to McLaren Oakland Hospital by ambulance, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office officials said. He died around 3 a.m. The driver of the truck was uninjured. Alcohol use by the bicyclist may be a factor in the incident, according to the sheriff’s office. An investigation is ongoing.
A 71-year-old man was killed while crossing Auburn Street at South Jessie when a pickup truck driven by a 48-year-old man struck him. The man was not wearing a helmet, and he died later at the hospital.
