"If you do 45 (mph) that's not the issue, the issue is when someone goes through at 70 (mph)," McMullen said. "It's impairment, it's speed, it's lack of seat belts, it's driver error.

Two people were killed in a morning crash in Ypsilanti Township Sunday. A vehicle traveling north on Hewitt Road crossed the center line and collided with a southbound vehicle head-on near near Midvale Street. The 21-year-old Ypsilanti woman who was driving the northbound vehicle, and her 23-year-old passenger from Dexter, were pronounced deceased at the crash site.
