A 19-year-old driving a 2001 GMC Yukon was traveling west on 6 Mile Road. At 10:43 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, she failed to stop at a posted stop sign and struck a 28-year-old woman driving a 2008 Jeep south on Fruit Ridge Avenue.

Aubrey Marie Staple, a 16-year-old junior, was ejected from the vehicle she was a passenger in and pronounced dead at the scene Saturday, Oct. 8, according to the Kent County Sheriff's Office.
