Plea Entered In Crash That Killed Couple On Motorcycle

The Holland Sentinel reports  Tuesday that 23-year-old Ciara Byers of Grand Haven entered the plea Monday as part of a deal with prosecutors. She faces up to 15 years in prison at an April 20 sentencing.
Ciara Siobhan Byers, 23, accused of driving drunk in a June collision that killed a Holland couple has waived an initial hearing on two counts of operating while intoxicated causing death. Byers was driving south on M-40 when she swerved into the oncoming lane to avoid hitting a vehicle stopped to make a left turn. Her vehicle collided with a motorcycle with riders Robert and Susan Kammeraad, ages 69 and 66, who were killed.
