Three people killed early Tuesday when a vehicle ran through a flashing red light and struck an ambulance that had its lights and sirens activated have been identified by Battle Creek police.

David later passed away at the hospital. But Beverly says she didn't know about the crash until Tuesday afternoon. "That's the sad thing; nobody came to the ER yesterday or last night and spoke to me at all; no policeman, nobody," she said. 
Driver Shirley Ann Stokes, 61, of Battle Creek and her passenger James Earl Stokes, 54, of Battle Creek were killed when their car ran a flashing red light and caused a LifeCare Ambulance carrying a cardiac patient to crash into it. The accident happened on February 24 at 12:00 a.m. on Garfield Street and North Avenue in Battle Creek, Michigan. The cardiac patient who was transferred to another ambulance also died moments after being taken to Battle Creek Bronson ER. The firefighter who was performing CPR on the patient when the accident happened also suffered injury. Battle Creek Police Department is now investigating the scene. They shut down Garfield Street and issued a statement saying that the car is at fault and that speed and alcohol are both possible factors that lead to the accident.
