According to Lt. Marc Burns, speaking on scene, a passerby called 911 at 7:31 a.m. April 3 after noticing a vehicle in a retention pond at the Country Meadows housing community on 76th Street SE west of Kraft Avenue SE. 

Police identify man found dead in Caledonia pond after crash

Police have identified Peter Reed, 75, of Caledonia Township, as the man killed when his car veered into a retention pond at the Country Meadows Village housing community Friday morning.

Authorities: Car goes into pond, body found floating nearby

The sheriff's department says foggy conditions may have contributed to the crash, but investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine if a medical condition be a contributing factor. 
A body was discovered floating in a pond near a crashed car in the Country Meadows neighborhood on Pinto Drive near 76th Street and Kraft Avenue at around 7:30 a.m. Friday. The victim was identifies as Peter Reed. The Kent County Sheriff’s Department believes the accident happened sometime Thursday night. A medical issue may have been at play, but the crash is under investigation. We'll update this story with any new information we receive.
