"What happened on that road, I don't know," Shannon-Zoeller said. "I don't know if a deer ran out in front of her, I don't know if her phone interrupted her concentration, I'm not sure. I don't even know why she would be going in that direction."
Police responded to the crash just after 10:30 p.m. at Brooklyn Road just south of South Road in Summit Township in Jackson County. Police believe the driver, a 32-year-old woman from Jackson County, lost control of her vehicle, and it departed the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, who was the only occupant in the 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol is suspected as the main factor in the crash.
