Police responded to the crash around 9:50 p.m. and closed the highway near 28th Street soon after.

Family identifies man killed by wrong-way driver

Jonathon Miles Yarrington, 27, was hit and killed by the wrong-way driver, a 25-year-old Grand Rapids woman, on US-131 near 28th Street Thursday night. The wrong-way driver was also killed in the crash.

MSP identifies wrong-way driver in deadly crash

Police say 25-year-old Jane Slotsema was driving the wrong way on northbound US-131 when she struck a car being driven by Jonathon Yarrington. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Slotsema traveled the wrong way on the highway for about 2.5 miles before the crash, Michigan State Police later concluded. MSP believe she entered the highway at the Franklin Street exit ramp.
